History Of Mongolia & Currency

 

The Mongolian People Republic, a landlocked country in Central Asia between the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic Of China. It has an area of 604,247 sq. mil (1,565,000 sq.km) and a population of 2.1 million. Capital is Ulan Bator. Animal herds and flocks are the chief economic assets. Wool, cattle, butter, meat and hides are exported.

Mongolia (often referred to as Outer Mongolia) is one of the world’s oldest countries, attained its greatest power in the 13 th century when Genghis Khan and his successors conquered all of China and extended their influence westward as far as Hungary and Poland. The empire dissolved in later centuries and in 1691 was brought under the sovereignty of the Manchus who had conquered China in 1644.

 

After the Chinese Republic movement led by Sun Yat Sen overthrew the Manchus and set up the Chinese Republic in 1911, Mongolia with the support of Russia, proclaimed its independence from China and on March 13 ,1921 established the Mongolian People’s Republic.

 

The ruler were the Chinese and ruled since 1921. The monetary system is 1 Tugrik(Tukrik)- 100 Mongo.

    Earlier I have mentioned many places that you can buy bank notes or coins.

    However, it would be best that you learned more about what you want by first buying books to have a more indepth knowledge.

    Next, it is strongly suggest that you joined a local numismatic clubs so that you can learn and buy or exchange with your seniors or peers or from occasional auctions held by your numismatic club. This is to prevent any fraud re: people who wants to cheat you.

    After that you may try:
    - on-line auctions,
    - visit reputable coins shop to get what you want.
