Recent auctions at E-bay fetches good prices for $1000 MALAYA Jim Paper Money 1942-1945

Normally, we see prices realized in e-bay auctions are very much below catalogue value. However, below is a JIM papermoney which  performed otherwise!

This Malaya JIM paper money is the 1,000 dollars green & yellow-green with “MA” in black on watermark papers, there were 19 bids with a final realized price of USD475!! Steven Tan’s catalogue shows EF as Rm1,600 ad UNC as Rm3,000

For those who are familiar about Malaya 1000 dollars Jim paper money- there were three types/versions:

(a)1,000 dollars  as above

(b)1,000 dollars , overprinted with two chinese characters in red on watermark papers and

(c) the more common 1,000 dollars, green & yellow-green with “MU” in red ( see picture in my earlier article)

Earlier article on how to differentiate the one dollar Malaya JIM paper money, above is another faked ten dollar Malaya JIM paper money which is picture no.1

In picture 1, the faked/forged note has:

(a) extra banana on the right side of the note which is symmetrical to the left side with banana and

(b) there is no WP no being issued.

(c) color( yellowish) counterfeit note

If you look at picture 1 and 2 what do you see to differentiate the forgery and the real one?

In picture 1, the faked JIM note has two banana trees instead of the orginal two coconut palm trees. Next the color is also another tell-tale. So, please be careful when buying serial number JIM paper money as they are more expensive than non-serial number!
