One Cent 1976 Bronze Coin Instead of Copper Clad Steel

Below is a Malaysian 1 cent coin dated 1976(KM.1) BRONZE with carbon spots, choice uncirculated.

If you are one of the few to avail this BRONZE coin, you might get a good value for it. Recently, n the July 08, Mavin International’s auction , this coin fetched a price of USD 160 BEFORE GST & 15% Buyer premium. (auction price range from USD 150-200.

So what is so special of 30+ years old coin? The pecularity is that this 1 cent coin is produced from BRONZE material instead of the usual COPPER-clad steel type. For the normal copper-clad steel type, the mintage is #27.4 million. However, for the Bronze type, only 100 coins have been minted.
