Posted by slang on August 24, 2010

While surfing the internet for interesting articles and blog on coins and banknotes, I found one blog on British Trade Dollar silver coins  http://britishtradedollar.blogspot.com which I find to be very interesting and very useful for those collectors who are beginners or advanced collectors of the crown size BTD silver coins.

This site is a specialized coin site on british trade dollars coin written by a very passionate coin collector of the British trade dollar coins.

Some of the noteworthy articles in this specialized BTD coin site are:

  • The very clear illustrated photograph of the various BTD coins year by year;
  • It shows pictorial grading of the various condition of the BTD coins;
  • What I find very interesting is the way the author demonstrate how to differentiate BTD coin from the counterfeit even with video so that readers can even actually  “hear” the difference between a real BTD and a fake/counterfeit BTD;
  • There is article on the author personal experiences/early memory when collecting the BTD coins and places to shop for coins in Ipoh
  • Many other tips or hints on the btd coins

At the recent Mavin International auction,we see a confirmation of the statement, buy the best grade coin. As grading encompass lustrousness,most coin collectors would take that factor  to price the coin. Picture no.1 showed the coin which is still choice UNC MS 62 which is of very high grade but unfortunately has lost most of its lustrousness whilst the other coin has a beautiful lustrous which is a RED GEM. So please do keep all your wonderful coins in tight vacuum high quality holders. Don’t save your cents to lose your dollars!!!
