Malaysia Numismatic Society Auction 143

Posted by slang on June 17, 2010

As a life-member of MNS, I have just received the next auction 144 and the results of the previous auction 143. It took me more than an hour to re-enacted the auction list with realized price values  for readers who have missed this auction. At a glance, you can see the coins and banknotes value recently realized in that auction 143 held on 28 th March 2010 at Museum Negara, Kuala Lumpur. The table is sorted with the coins and banknotes price realized first and then those not realized been sorted below.

Some observations:

  • Actual sold was not so satisfactory only 55% or 66 lots of total 120 lots being realized
  • The value realized was only Rm33,560 out of  total reserve price of Rm81,340
  • Jim currency with condition of VF was not well received with hardly any being sold
  • Fanciful Malaysian modern series of higher value were also not sold
  • The Malaysia First Series Rm100 fetched a good price of Rm4,000 ( unc) compared to reserve price of Rm 3,200). However no mention about the broken thread and straight line thread security since the catalogue books showed varying values for them.
